Well, it's 3:18 a.m. on Wed the 9th of December and I am unable to sleep yet again. So, I have decided to start my own blog sharing what I enjoy: My adventures, idea's, failure's, and fun with cooking. I dove into the culinary world about 6 years ago, and have been going full steam ahead ever since. My plan with this blog is to share with my friends and others from small towns such as my own, Charleston, IL, that cooking is fun and can be great and tasty when cooking with what is available locally, and in season.
In my hometown, we are not fortunate enough to have import food stores that stock ingredients like caviar, truffles or squid ink (yes you can cook with squid ink), but most recently we have been blessed with the opening of a store that sells local, organic produce, Sugar Mountain Farms (http://sugarmtnfarms.webs.com/). Other than this, we basically have what other small t0 medium sized towns have, Wal-Mart! And I hate shopping for produce and meat there; its almost always crap.
As well as sharing recipes and techniques that I have picked up over the years, I will also be sharing photos of some of the finished foods, my family, the ingredients that I come across, and whatever else I find that I think you will enjoy.
